How to Get Your Blocked Account Money Back for Germany (2025) – Fintiba, Coracle, and Others

Many students dream of studying in Germany. However, sometimes plans change after applying to universities and opening a blocked account. If you need to refund your blocked account money for any reason, this guide will explain the exact steps you must follow.

Whether your blocked account is with Fintiba, Coracle, or any other provider, the refund process is almost the same for all.

Common Scenarios for Refund Requests

There are three main situations when you might need to get your blocked account money back:

  1. You opened a blocked account but did not receive the document (confirmation mail).

  2. You received the document but submitted or did not submit your visa documents.

  3. You received the visa but later decided not to travel and now need a refund.

Scenario 1: Blocked Account Opened, No Confirmation Mail Received

If you have opened a blocked account but did not yet receive the document mail (confirmation), follow these steps:

Steps:

  • Cancel your visa appointment first.

  • Then send an email to the German Embassy (Dhaka) at visa@dhak.diplo.de explaining why you want to cancel your plan and request a refund.

  • After sending the email, the embassy will reply within 7 working days telling you which documents to provide. Usually, they ask for:

    • A signed letter confirming that you will not submit any visa application or are withdrawing your current application.
(Include your full name, passport number, and date of birth.)
      👉 Sample Letter Format

    • A copy of your blocked account confirmation showing the account number.

    • A copy of your passport’s data page.

    • Contact details of your bank (Customer ID/Account number, Email ID, and physical mailing address).

  • Combine all these documents into one PDF file and submit it to the embassy via the email they used to request the documents.

  • After verifying your documents, the embassy will issue a consular certificate and send it directly to your blocked account provider (Fintiba, Coracle, etc.).
Note: The embassy usually does not notify you when they send it. You can follow up with your blocked account provider’s support team to confirm if they have received the consular certificate.

  • Once your blocked account provider receives the certificate, they will initiate the refund. It usually takes 2–3 weeks for the money to reach your bank.

Important Tip:
Try to refund the money back to the same bank account from where you initially transferred it to avoid delays or complications.

Scenario 2: Document Received, Visa Application Submitted (or Not)

If you already received the document mail and either submitted or didn’t submit your visa documents:

  • No need to cancel the appointment.

  • Follow the same email and document process as in Scenario 1.

Scenario 3: Visa Received, But You Still Need a Refund

If you have received your visa but decide not to travel to Germany:

  • No need to cancel the appointment.

  • Email the embassy explaining the situation.

  • Follow the same steps for document submission and processing.

Additional Notes:

💰 Currency Exchange Rates:
When you initially transferred money, the exchange rate may have been different. Due to fluctuations, you might receive more or less money when refunded.
Example: Some students reported receiving 60,000 BDT more due to favorable rate changes. No need to worry about this variation.

🕐 Processing Time:
After embassy submission, expect 2–3 weeks for the refund to complete once your blocked account provider receives the consular certificate.

Final Advice:

If you have any questions, it’s better to ask in public groups or comment sections rather than private inboxes, so others can also benefit from the information.
Always try to stay updated through embassy announcements or your blocked account provider’s official support channels.

Wishing you the best for your future plans! ✈️
